Current Events & Quilting

Frequently current events, whether they involved our town, our state, our country or the world find their way into our quilting. Take the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina last summer. Many quilts were made for fund raising and for flood victims to use. Others may become pictorial memory pieces of this natural disaster.

Quilts may be inspired by sports events whether they're local or international. Right now the World Cup soccer games in Germany have an effect on quilters lives. With some, it has nothing to do with their quilting, simply an event their family may be following. However, the games may inspire some quilters to use soccer designs in their fabric art.

Quilter Judy Martin even has a poll on her web site, where quilters can predict whom they think will win. Check this out at www.judymartin.com.
